Silence, Drama & Greenery

Landskrona has no less than nine nature reserves offering a variety of natural experiences, from majestic hills to lush forests. Whether you prefer manicured park environments or wilder experiences with dramatic views, Landskrona has the nature you crave.

Introduction to Allemansrätten

In Sweden, we have a unique concept called allemansrätten, or the “the Right of Public Access. This allows everyone to roam freely in nature, regardless of land ownership, as long as they respect the environment and other people. This means you can freely hike, forage and enjoy the natural beauty of places like Landskrona’s nature reserves, provided you follow some basic rules: do not disturb wildlife, do not damage plants, and always take your litter with you. This right is a cherished part of Swedish culture and helps ensure that everyone can enjoy the outdoors.

Beautiful Views at Hilleshögs Dalar

This is one of Landskrona’s most appreciated natural areas. The place is characterized by high, sandy cliffs and rolling grassy hills, home to rare species like sand martins and the parasitic broomrape. The Skåneleden hiking trail passes through this beautiful coastal stretch, offering a stunning view over the Öresund strait and Ven. The nature reserve is popular among both seasoned and novice hikers and is a perfect destination for a picnic.

Hilleshögs dalar is also one of several tranquil places highlighted in Visit Skåne’s campaign The Map of Quietude. Down by the beach, with the cliffs as a natural sound barrier at your back, silence and tranquillity reign supreme.

Along the beach, you can still find traces of the brickworks that shaped the area around the turn of the last century. You will also find Karl XII’s fortifications scattered around the reserve. These formed an important line of defence along the coast in the early 1700s and now stand as testament to Scania’s exciting military history. In spring, cowslips grow all over them, as if nature itself wants to emphasize that peace and beauty now prevail here.

Nature Reserve in the Middle of the City

Exercisfältet, or Exan as it is often called colloquially, is Landskrona’s most central nature reserve. The place has had many uses over the years, including as a military training field. Now its a beautiful green area with an abundance of flowers and grasses. Here you’ll find, among other things, bellflowers, blue buttons, wild thyme, and heather. Many butterflies, including various coppers and blues, thrive in the flower-rich meadows.

At Exercisfältet you will find beautiful, wide-crowned oaks that have grown without having to compete for sun and space. These trees are 60 years old, but that’s no age for an oak! Here you can walk along the paths or stroll through the tall grass. If you feel you need a moment to pause, you can stop at the city’s mindfulness bench.
